    Defense Industry Coatings

Many Defense Industry components including munitions, navigation equipment, antennas and hand held devices require functional coatings to allow them to operate correctly. Some common applications include EMI/RFI shielding for handheld GPS systems, heat sink component coatings for navigational systems and wave guides for munitions. We have worked in the defense industry for decades and have grown to be a trusted partner to many of the big names in the trade. REC holds a certification to ISO 9001 and AS9100 D and we are committed to upholding the highest level of quality on all of our defense programs.

    Medical Device Shielding

Many common medical devices require shielding to protect them from Electromagnetic Interference and/or Radio Frequency Interference. These types of interference can be disruptive to electrical components within the device, and outside of the device, potentially causing malfunctions and inaccurate readings. Because it is so critical that these life sustaining machines work correctly we have developed multiple coating solutions to protect against Electromagnetic Interference and Radio Frequency Interference. Our standard coatings start at conductivity rating of 1Ω / in² . This coating provides ample protection for most devices, but for highly sensitive devices we offer coatings that can achieve readings as low as 0.01Ω / in². Along with specifications for functionality,…

    Thin Film Coatings

Thin film coatings are very thin layers of material deposited onto the surface of a substrate to alter it’s characteristics in some way. Most of our coatings range in thickness from 1 to 5 microns. However we do have coatings that are as thin as 200 angstroms or as thick as 5 mils. The majority of the coatings we apply are metallic, the most common being Aluminum, Copper and Stainless Steel. These are often used to create a conductive surface that acts as a shield against Electromagnetic Interference and Radio Frequency Interference. Other coating functions include reflectivity, heat shielding, and conductive paths for antennas.
