About Rare Earth Coatings
History
Rare Earth Coatings was established 1981 by Larry and Kathy Olson. REC was founded to address a need in the industry for a specialized optical coating and has since has expanded to include our current capabilities. Started in our founders basement to fulfill a program for NASA, REC has grown to over 30 employees and 21,000 square feet. To date we have supported programs for major defense, medical and other Fortune 500 companies.
Facilities
Rare Earth Coatings, Inc. is located in Litchfield Minnesota, 69 miles west of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We utilize vacuum chambers from 18" to 72" in diameter to accommodate prototype to large volume production runs. REC also has the capability to support secondary operations such as masking, tooling, pad printing, and lite assembly.
